Nice words spread about this one dining place in Davao City called Lachi's that I was so excited to go there.

My friend told me ahead that the place is often crowded with diners, others even just endure the long hours of waiting outside. Luckily for us, there were still few people inside when we went there one afternoon. True enough, this place has the finest foods a cafe or a restaurant can offer.

Lachi's is located along Marfori heights not far away from Nanay Bebing, it is just a very small place with only eight to nine tables, hence, people often called in advance to make for a reservation. But the area is neat and clean and very quiet and I love its very comfortable environment.

My friend told me that Pork Marinara (Baked Spaghetti topped with Pork Chopped) is one of the best in the menu  but I am not into Pork anymore so I chose the Oriental Chicken meal. And yes, it was great! Boneless chicken marinated in delicate herbs and deep fried, very crunchy and tasty, tastier than Jollibee or McDo's fried chicken. The order costs P116.00 but you will be satisfied because it has 6 big chicken strips plus almost one and a half cup of rice.
Oriental Chicken with Rice (P116.00)
Pork Marinara (Baked spaghetti topped with Pork Chopped)
Blueberry Cheesecake P85.00 per slice

I also tried the Baked Spaghetti ordered by my friend which has the best mixture compared to other baked spaghetti in town, packed with lots of melted cheese! We ended the meal with a dessert---Blueberry Cheesecake, I chose the big slice hehehe while my friend selected the smaller, rounded size but the "pie" cut is better and tastier than its smaller cousin. I loved it!

You must try it for yourself! Lachi's foods are great, none of its customers blurted dissatisfaction after trying their foods, everything in the menu is so terrific and you don't need to wait for ages for your orders to be served, they have cooperative staff. I would love to come back at Lachi's and try Teriyaki.

A war pilot Prince

Oh no Prince Harry!

Lately, the third-in-line to the British throne is expressing his interest to serve in the war zone. He is currently undergoing an Apache helicopter training course, which would qualify him to become a war pilot if needs arise.

Last week British Prime Minister, David Cameron, made a go signal to send attack helicopters to Libya to join US forces  and Prince Harry, as a Captain in the British Army Air Corps, is expressing interest to join his comrades. But so far no order from his superiors has made. The Prince has at least one war participation credit to his name. In early 2008 he was secretly serving as Tank commander in the war-stricken area of Afghanistan making him the second royal family member after Prince Andrew to fight under enemy's fire. It was a top secret made and carefully monitored by his superiors in order to protect him from being the target of the Taliban, but it was leaked to the international media which made headlines, his superiors, afraid for Harry's safety, were forced to release him from the field and was ordered to return home.

His grandmother, the Queen, as the ruling British sovereign, is the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Armed Forces and as someone who is closer to the throne, Harry's safety is the top priority of the British military commanders. Harry was reportedly heartbroken but still hoping one day he could serve as a war pilot in a real war zone. Now he is very open to the idea of going to Libya.

But what if he will be allowed? Can he repeat the heroism of his uncle Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, when he commanded a helicopter to the war zone during the Falkland Wars in early 80's?

Haaay!Do not go there Prince Harry, just leave it to your brother who is a search-and-rescue operation pilot. Let him go there. What do you think? Please free to post your comments here.

Annie Pie

Why I love to eat lots of foods lately? (but I am not gaining weight, haha!)Am I hiding something in my system?Hmmm...emptiness, perhaps?haaay, but I just want to eat and eat and eat and unwind and surf the net hehehe.

After Lachi's adventure last Friday, yesterday afternoon, I and Kathy went to another Cafe, geeeez! This time to AnniePie, originally I wanted to go back to Cafe Demitasse to eat their soooo yummy creamy Carbonara and the unique Belgian fries but Kathy told me to try AnniePie's carbonara so we ended up going to Malvar.

And ordered Carbonara and Tiramisu!hehehehehe...

Well the pasta used this time is Fettuccine...I adored carbonara more if it is made from fettuccine and rich creamy white sauce (with Garlic bread perhaps)...and so we devoured one plate of creamy carbonara, though it was great, I loved Demitasse's carbo more...we were discussing business while eating but we never talked about life's clutters because I didn't want to spoil my appetite.

What I love about Cafe houses is its very quiet, comfy and exclusive environment, I can fully relax and enjoy the food, a perfect choice to loosen up and just hang around with good friends. I already invaded almost every cafe house in Davao (Chicco's, Cafe Demitasse, Kangaroo, Fagioli, Yellow Hauz, AnniePie), hahaha!Three reasons why I love to dine at cafes --- quiet environment, wifi zone and they serve European concoctions, yaaaay!

Exploiting the death of Diana

I just cannot understand why there are still people who continue to exploit the sudden death of the late Princess of Wales, Diana. For heaven's sake the controversies attached to her death already settled down and those accusations of conspiracy, which trumpeted by the camp of Mohammad Al-Fayed, already proven unfounded and very malicious.

Now here's the new one "Unlawful Killing" which according to the "Hollywood Reporter" website based on the documents presented and funded by Mohammad Al-Fayed, the father of Dodi Al-Fayed who died with Diana in that car crash.

For sure this ridiculous film will feature false stories and other twisted events pointing to malign the British royal family, very inconceivable and very unfair. For sure this will hurt Diana's sons, Prince William and Prince Harry again. These two devoted boys  never deserve such indecent and false documents about the death of their mother. They are both already enjoying their lives and continue honouring the memory of their late mother and presenting a false documentary will revisit the sadness, grief and hurt they felt on the day she was proclaimed dead.

For the past 16 years of my research journey about the intricate lives of the British royals, familiarity is all I know about them so I don't need another trash documentary to ponder hard why she died during that fateful night. It is not interesting to me anymore, I want to remember her as somebody who left an exceptional mark to the world, all I know is that she lived a very wonderful life, full of compassion, kindness, humility, devotion and love to her role as a mother and a member of the British royal family. She deserved to be remembered, she was timeless and no one can ever replaced her. She was unique in every way. Let us remember her remarkable life on earth and not her death, there's nothing we can do about it even if we continue bickering with those silly theories presented by Al-Fayed.

I don't need another false story to be reminded how cruel the royal family to her when she was still alive because the truth is, according to the book "A Royal Duty" by Paul Burrell (Diana's Butler), Diana had a great deal of respect to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, though the latter was badly criticized by the media for treating Diana unfairly, Burrell noted that towards the last year of the Princess's life, Philip and Diana patched up things and Diana called him again as "Dear Papa". With due respect to the Queen, she was never heard uttering bad things about Diana even during the crisis of her marriage to Prince Charles.

Whatever their "wars", it was all over, nobody has the right to judge the royal family and accused them of committing a horrible crime of killing her.

The final court decision already released that the accusations of the camp of Al-Fayed about the silly "conspiracy theory" is false and unfounded, even if other people still thinking if there was no cover up or what, then let's leave it there, why continue banging our head with such case which we are not even there when it happened? Let's just remember her timeless beauty and how she lived a fantastic life as a fairytale Princess.

And let us move on and let the soul of Diana rest in peace.

For people who will support the documentary, I don't know what to comment.

Panti Experience and Blueberry cheesecake

Okay, the past week was not all cheery, there were days that I was annoyed with useless things not worthy in the end, oh well that's life, but towards the end of the week I had lots of laughter and well...amusement...

My hunger pangs started kicking on Wednesday and so many foods appeared in my mind..hahaha!I shared this "food longing" to my friend Kathy...so we decided and agreed to go to Lachi's on Friday.

Yessss finally Friday arrived...and by 5:40 pm we were sitting comfortably at Lachi's, actually it was my first time to be there (along Marfori Heights, just a few walk effort from Nanay Bebings). This is just a very small place, about eight tables only, but it is always filled with lots of customers that you must call for a reservation ahead of time. The foods are great!

Blueberry Cheesecake!yummyyyy
The smaller version of BlueBerry cheesecake that Kathy chose to order.hehehe

I ordered Oriental Chicken with Rice because I am not comfortable with red meat anymore(well except maybe for water buffalo) and Pork, well I only eat Pork once a year, every New Year (my father says it is okay to eat Pork once a year). Aside from the oriental chicken meal, I ordered one slice of blueberry cheesecake (one of my favorites with carbonara and Brazo), yum, yum!
Oriental Chicken
Pork Marinara that Kathy ordered. Baked Spaghetti topped with porkchop

Wheew! It was a great dinner, the oriental chicken meal was perfect! I loved it and the blueberry cheesecake, one of my favorites, was sooo delicious.

Then Sunday...

After attending the mass at San Pedro Cathedral I went to the national bookstore to look for a copy of Summit Media books, I want to check the format of their non-fiction/romance genre because I want to submit a query for my short stories collection (for broken hearts hahaha!)but I didn't find one instead I found this very hilarious book, Panti Experience, hahaha!Opppps you might think the book talks about the confidential belonging of girls....:-P

Veryyyyy amusing...so I bought one and found myself laughing alone inside my bedroom while reading. It was soooo entertaining that I finished reading the whole book in less than 40 minutes. hehehe. Read my review of Panti Experience HERE

Panti Experience

This is a book, in case you will wonder..hehehe

While looking for books published by the Summit Media (because I want to check the format of their short stories as I am planning to send a query for my short stories collection) at the national bookstore, my attention was caught by one intriguing book in the "HUMOR" section, with a very amusing title.

So I picked one. The book has a naughty title "Panti Experience" with four girly undies clipped in the nylon (hahaha!), so I thought maybe this book talks about naughty stuff especially those delicate "personal belongings" of girls...haha! little did I know the surname of the author is indeed--Panti...Jay Panti....ngorkkk!

I was super amused with this very intriguing book that I  started reading the introduction...and my God!A tiny chuckle came out from my mouth...yaaaay! So I flipped several pages and gosh, I could not control myself from laughing so I decided to buy one to continue reading at home.

The moment I arrived in my bedroom, I ripped the cellophane right away and started reading the content and while still at the introduction my laughter started tearing the stillness of the environment of my bedroom. My God!This book is very hilarious with lots of humor, anecdotes, little "green" topics and the author's unique ability to create a typical Filipino naughtiness.hehehe!

In case you are wondering why this book is super hilarious, well, the author presented the topic in a very simple approach, about life, about romance, about adventure and misadventure and other "pambobola" thing--Filipino style. This book has a very simple format which everybody can relate. Ideal for young adults who love "pakwela" effect.

A unique book to make us laugh and be amused and momentarily forget other concerns. For people who want to get out temporarily from clutters in life and just want to relax and laugh and hang around. This book is for you.

And to give you an overview, here are some of the highlights.

Page 9: A Short Survey about my High School Life

Page 22 "Ahemmm...more on Melanie"
"So eto na ang inaabangan na mga kwentong ewan ko, hehehe!"

Page 44 Ahemmm...si Tina na naman...
"Eto ang kwentong ikakagulat ng lahat, kumbaga sa pelikula eh parang ito yung nagulat ka na lang at namatay yung bida sa ending..parang Panday...Darna..lahat merong pagbabalik..at ito na nga..."

I finished reading the book in less than 40 minutes...hahaha!Well for a change and to have a breather from the rigid routine and other serious books in my collection.

You will be intrigued more with the content of this book when you read the cover "warning: this book does not make sense"...lol!

But trust me, you will end up rolling in laughter while reading this book..hehehehe!

Gorgeous Princes

The most irresistible and gorgeous real Princes of the European royal court who are legally single. Prince William, now the Duke of Cambridge, is definitely "out of the market".

Prince Harry of Wales
The 26-year-old Captain of the Army Aircorps is definitely on top of every girl's fantasy now that his brother is officially married. He is debonair, charming, sporty and compassionate who can be funny and humorous, Prince Harry possesses traits of a perfect Knight-in-the-shining armour. Currently, he is third in the line of succession to the British throne.

Prince Carl Philip of  Sweden
Definitely he is one of the handsomest European royals. He consistently topped the survey of being the most irresistible hunky royal in the world. Prince Carl Philip is the only son of King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden and because the Swedish law of succession was changed from male preference primogeniture to equal primogeniture succession in the early 80s, Carl Philip is no longer the Heir-Apparent of his father but his older sister, Princess Victoria. The Prince is 32 years old and a Lieutenant in the Swedish royal navy, he loves outdoor adventure and actively participating in many sports events particularly in car racing and skiing. He is currently dating the sexy Swedish model, Sofia Hellqvist.
Prince Guillaume
He is the Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg and his father's successor to the Grand Ducal throne of Luxembourg. The Prince is 29 years old. He studied for a while at the University of Durham, Brunel University and Royal Military Academy in England but completed his Political Science degree at the Institut Albert-Le-Grand in France where he graduated with honours in 2009.

King Michael of Romania

On May 10, 2011, ex-King Michael of Romania issued a royal decree announcing that his family would no longer be connected with the royal house of Hohenzollern (a German royal house) and would be known as the royal family of Romania from now on. The King, one of the closest cousins of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, was deposed in December 1947 (several weeks after his return from London where he attended the wedding of his cousins, Prince Philip and Princess Elizabeth--now the Queen) after communist seized the government control following World War II.

Several years ago, he changed the rule of succession from Salic Law to Agnastic-Cognastic primogeniture so that, in the event that the monarchy will be restored, his eldest daughter, Princess Margarita, can succeed to the throne. King Michael is now 89 years old (he is with the same age as Prince Philip) and just recently attended the wedding of Prince William of Wales. He is still very popular among Romanians. King Michael worked as a commercial pilot after he was forced to abdicate by the communist group in Romana and lived in Switzerland with his family. His wife was Princess Ana of Burgundy. In the 1990s he was allowed to go back to Romania by the new government.

Controversial Hats

Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice and their fascinators from Philip Treacy

The daughters of Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, often received criticism from the public either for their outrageous outfits or late night party out. And in the recent wedding of their cousin, Prince William, their fascinators did not escape from the public scrutiny again.
The royals and their amusing hats.
from left: Princess Eugenie, Zara Phillips and Princess Beatrice

Some of the royal guests and family members equally donned ridiculous frocks and silly fascinator hats but those of the York sisters received the most unflattering comments. Princess Eugenie's blue fascinator was dubbed as the royal fishnet while that of her sister looked like an arch or something. Now Beatrice's hat is auctioned at ebay to benefit the UNICEF's The Little Bee Initiative in the UK and Children for Crisis Charity.

Though many people poked fun at the princess's fascinator, there are some who just want to own it, well, after all it is famously worn by a royal from a popular royal house, it will be a good keepsake for a life time. The hat now fetches 81,000 UK pound.

Prince Harry shines

Though relegated only as the "spare" of his brother in the line of succession, Prince Harry outshines his brother in many aspects. As time goes by, this once wayward Prince surprised everybody with his unique charm and appeal to the public. He looks irresistible everyday and armed with oozing self-confidence. When he is not on duty at the military, he is actively participating in the fund-raising events for his charity, Sentebale.

He is recently promoted as Captain in the Royal Army Air Corps and qualified to operation an Apache helicopter. After his brother's wedding, the world focuses on him as the newest most eligible bachelor in the world. Prince Harry is everybody's dream for a Prince Charming. He is debonair, charming, gorgeous and cute. Currently, he is single, his on-and-off relationship to Chelsy Davy recently made headlines as not all set well and doubted to be getting serious.

In his brother's wedding last April 29, 2011 where he stood as Best Man, the younger son of Prince Charles charmed the crowd with his cute smile and humour. He looked so handsome in his army uniform while doing his job as his brother's supporter. He gamely waved to the crowd and released his boyish captivating grin.

The Royal Wedding

Prince William and Kate Middleton wed last April 29, 2011 at the Westminster Abbey, London, with an estimated 1,900 guests. Only 600 VIP guests were invited to the wedding breakfast hosted by the Queen at the Buckingham Palace and out of these 600 guests, only 300 were invited to the private dinner and dance at 6:00 pm hosted by Prince Charles at Buckingham.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge after the ceremony at Westminster. The bride wore an ivory satin lace gown created by Sarah Burton of the fashion house of Alexander Mcqueen

The Prince was created by his grandmother, the Queen, as Duke of Cambridge, so his wife will automatically take the title of Duchess of Cambridge. They honeymooned at the secluded island of Seychelles two weeks after the wedding and took up residence at Anglesey, North Wales where Prince William served as search and rescue operation pilot of the Royal Air force.

Cool and mouthwatering food concoctions for a splendid party experience!

I remember exploring the site of the Middleton's Party Pieces with so much amazement after the announcement of Prince William's official engagement to Kate Middleton, now the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Though I detested her to be the future Queen Consort of England because of her non-aristocratic background, I admired how her family had put up an ideal mail-order-party business for children which eases the burden of parents' dilemma on what luscious food to prepare or how to organize a memorable party. The attractive packages, cute cupcakes and delightful marshmallows swathed in chocolate dips and fruit syrups, the balloons and all those fantastic stuff for kids, made Party Pieces one of the most sought-after party destinations in England.

So Sweet and Romantic!

Pink Tulips!
Pink brightens my day, even how terrible the events of the day is, if I see Pink it erases all the pressure and tension I felt, it makes everything perfect, the environment seems young and glowing again. So inspiring! Among the flowers of nature I see, it's pink Tulips that allure me. When I saw the bed of spring Tulips at Alnwick Garden's site, my eyes gleamed with gladness. So sweet and tender to emotion.
Pink Tulips evoke happiness and youthfulness, very relaxing and soothing. Like a soft breeze of the morning air and the gentle hush of the quiet night that lulls you to sleep. I always love Pink Tulips!

Dreaming to travel to Maldives..hahaha!What a spectacular place to spend a relaxing vacation. If there's one Asian country I would love to visit, it's definitely Maldives, with its ivory and sweet-sugary beach, sparkling blue and turquoise water, tropical surroundings, palm trees and incredible resorts and spa, nothing beats Maldives for a wonderful, romantic and memorable holiday getaway!haaaaaay.....honeymooners listen, Maldives is a perfect honeymoon destination...
A picturesque secluded paradise in Asia. The Banyan Tree resort, North Male' Atoll. Perfect romantic honeymoon getaway. Image from beach-list.com

Maldives is one of the smallest nations in the world (only 90,000 square kilometers) located near India and Sri Lanka facing the Indian Ocean, but it is a home to 1,190 breathtaking islands formed in many natural Atolls and surrounded with a romantic cobalt crystal sea, powdery white sand, captivating lagoons and turquoise reefs, ideal for snorkeling and diving adventures. A secluded island with more or less 300,000 inhabitants, Maldives guarantees privacy and excitement to all travellers. The nation's main religion is Islam and the capital is Male'.

My favourite Maldivian resort is Constance Moofushi Resort in the South Atholl but the nightly rate is horrifying, around P50,000 per night!nyakkk is this real???hahahaha..Okay, why not take a lesser option like The Banyan Tree resort (picture above) it is still an incredible, breathtaking resort but God! the nightly rate is P39,000 per night!haaaay anyway it's just my illusion to travel to Maldives hahaha...Unlike other neighbouring Asian countries, Maldives requires an immigration visa toink! So maybe I will be contented dreaming Hongkong instead hahaha...

Visitors may catch a flight from any of these international flights to Male':

Scribbling Thoughts

After reading Bianca Gonzales' blog today about "bloggers keep blogging do not get tamad (lazy) posting!"hahaha, I immediately got an idea what to post here today.

For the past weeks I was overtly anxious and sulky with reasons I couldn't understand. So maybe I need to take a different route, a new "diversion", a new focus, to avoid being morose and somber. I wanted to disconnect myself temporarily from the things that could trigger annoyance and maybe put behind the disappointment I felt towards something.

While waiting for the net connection to pick its speed, I leisurely write stuff in my little notebook. I am fond of scribbling useless things in my notebook when boredom hits me so today is just like other boring days.

And my list varies from "things/songs that remind me towards something or someone" to "things I detested and dreamed to own" to "foods lots of foods!" to "visiting the great places in the world before I go to my Father's Kingdom"...hehehe!

Things/Songs that remind me towards something or someone:

Scent of a grass  - My happy childhood in the farm
Jingle bell rock  (Christmas song)  - My beautiful dark yellow dress that my mother gave during Christmas 1985.
Hark the Herald  (Christmas song) - My grade one Christmas party
Christmas Alphabet (Christmas song) - Our two-storey house in the farm surrounded with rice fields and lots of coconut and fruit trees.
Auld Lang Syne (New Year song) - "The Cutting Edge" movie
Scapular (religious ornament) - My paternal grandmother who died in 2005 at the age of 98. She wore scapular all through out her life and admonished me to wear it often though right now I didn't have any. :-(
Chirping of the birds - The farm surroundings, the river, greenery and the quiet life in the countryside.
Sunrise - My maternal grandparents' old home where I used to spend summer, one hour drive from Marihatag. Their home is directly facing the Pacific Ocean.

While the list of memories are so endless, the list of my favorite foods is just very short.

Creamy Carbonara
This is my all time favorite and I always crave this food every now and then. I can live with only carbonara in my side.

Brazo de mercedes
One of my favorite desserts because it will just slide in my tongue and no further chewing effort is required.hehe.Besides, it is only made of white eggs and some creamy creamy stuff so it is so yummy and super delicious. Uhmmmmm!

Blueberry Cheesecake
Like Brazo, this oh-so-yummy dessert is another favorite because of its super tender texture and creamy taste. It is so mouthwatering!Haaay I can eat up to 5 slices of blueberry cake in just one blink.haha!

Blue Cheese Chicken Salad

Vegetables concoction with chicken and blue cheese dressing. Looks tastier than Caesar salad. I want to prepare it by myself but the blue cheese chicken salad is soooooooo expensive. hehehe

I want to eat all of the above right now hahaha! And I want to eat them with GREEN TEA. I hate softdrinks and fruit juice is not my idea of a beverage when devouring pasta or creamy dessert.

Things I detested

I detested.....Ferreti brand because the quality of their products is so bad. I've three Ferreti sandals which never lasted beyond five months, I don't know if the trouble is in my feet or the material is so cheap but I never had any good experience with this brand. I favored Rusty Lopez brand more, it's really long lasting, I've two Rusty Lopez shoes that lasted three years.

I detested.....the expressions "fuck" and "estoryahe" yucks!!!so highly improper and lack social etiquette. Every time I hear these ghastly things I wanted to vomit in disgust. I'll make sure my future children would never hear any of these bad expressions.

I detested.....Bars and anything that goes with night life...you cannot pull me right away to take a trip to any bar or disco houses, it's down right nasty. But there were two occasions that I was compelled to go to a karaoke bar because my friends, whom I spent dinner with, hmmm...er....want to sing at the wee hours..haaaay!While inside, my mind flown somewhere up to my bedroom.haha!

I detested.....liquors, pork, chocolates and softdrinks...all bad.....bring no good to the body, in my opinion.

I dreamed to own....
a Burberry bag or wallet....but I cannot afford because it is too expensive..hehehe!Burberry is a British brand and hold a Royal Warrant in shoes for the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Prince of Wales.

Above photo: Vacheron Constantin Asymmetrique Ladies Watch 25510000R.9121 Movement: Swiss Quartz, Crystal: Anti reflective Sapphire, Clasp: Pink, Bezel: 18k Rose Gold set With Pavee Diamonds, Size: Ladies, Case Diameter: 18k Rose Gold Buckle, Dial Color: Silver, Water Resistant: 50 meters. Price $260.00 toink!

Vacheron Constantin watch! But but I am not dreaming to buy an original VC just a replica like the above photo. A replica is classified as AAA quality more like an imitation but still it is very expensive. The prices of original units of VC range from millions to billions (in pesos) so forget about it, a replica is still elegant and fabulous.

Chanel earrings with double C logo...so elegant and classy!I always dreamed to have Chanel in my position hehe..the double C logo collection of the House of Chanel is the creative design and one of the greatest achievements of Karl Lagerfield (my God!this question is included in my Smart Quiz book!) as Chanel's creative director.

Some of the Great Places I want to visit before I die!

Iguazu Falls (Argentina)
Who doesn't want to be at Iguazu???With its spectacular environment and breathtaking site, this fantastic gift of nature is my idea of life's greatest adventure. I first saw this natural wonder via "The Mission", a 1986 film based on the daring act of Jesuit missionaries to christianize the Guarani tribes in South America in the 16th century. While watching the gorgeous bodies of Jeremy Irons and Robert De Niro trekked on the rugged cliff, my mind was focused at the picturesque Iguazu!

Alnwick Garden(England)
Considered to be the most beautiful garden in the world, Alnwick Garden is located near Alnwick Castle in Northumbria, England. The garden's rare architectural design and fabulous landscape plus waterfalls, spring flowers and running water,  allure people around the world...and me too...The garden features mass of pink Tulips which inspired me more to travel there because I adored pink Tulips!

Windsor Castle (England)
The most romantic castle in the world!I want to sit at one of its park benches and imagine life while breathing its soft breeze coming from the river Thames and Windsor Great Park and perhaps stroll endlessly at its fully manicured garden and visit St. George's Chapel nearby.

Mustique Island (St. Vincent and the Grenadines)
Well, anyway even just in my dreams I hope to visit this very exclusive and luxury resort in the West Indies. With a whopping $100,000 per week accommodation at one of its posh villas and a very difficult process of traveling (in order to get there, travelers from the Philippines will catch a flight either from England, Canada or in the United States, haha!), desiring a Mustique holiday getaway can be very challenging. What made this island so unique and fabulous?---its reputation.

It is the favorite holiday destination of the late Princess Margaret (sister of Queen Elizabeth II) where she previously owned a villa there, Prince William often holidayed there and fashion icon, Tommy Hilfiger has his own villa at the island. The rich and the famous including royalty, loved Mustique because of the pampered-Kingly accommodation, luxury and privacy the island provides.

Tuscany (Italy)
Along with its extraordinary countryside, romantic surroundings, beautiful coast line and the region's glorious past, long history of arts and sophistication (especially in Florence and Sienna), Tuscany is one region in the world which offers a fantastic taste of grandeur and freedom. But of course Vatican City is one of my primary purpose of coming to Italy. But the travel will not be complete without seeing Tuscany and riding a gondola in Venice (not part of Tuscany anyway, Venice is an Italian city in the region of Lombardy).

After releasing these thoughts in my notebook, my mind right now seems relax and my desire to eat increases too hahaha!

King of Bhutan

It looks like 2011 is the year of Royal Weddings.

After Prince William, now the Duke of Cambridge, wed his long time girlfriend last April 29, 2011, Prince Albert, the reigning sovereign Prince of Monaco will also walk-down-the-aisle this coming July 2, 2011, his bride-to-be is Charlene Wittstock, a South African Olympian. Prince Georg of Prussia, a distant cousin of Prince William, also announced his engagement last January 2011 to fellow royal, Princess Sophie of Isenburg but their wedding date is yet to be confirmed.

Now another royal wedding is rolling up in the horizon, this time in Southeast Asia.

King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk, the current head of the Royal House of Wangchuk in Bhutan, announced his official engagement to Jetsun Pema last May 20, 2011, and the wedding date will be sometime in October this year (2011). The 31-year-old King, known as Druk Gyalpo among Bhutanese or Dragon King, completed his MS Philosophy in Politics degree at the prestigious Oxford University in England. He described his fiancee as "a kind-hearted girl who is very supportive and whom I can trust".

Bhutan, a small nation between India and China, is a remote and idyll country, until Jigme's father, Jigme Singye, who abdicated in 2006 to give way for his son, made an extensive reformation during his reign and allowed television to be available in the country in 1999, the last nation in the world to welcome television in their homeland. The old King also made several political reforms including its transition from absolute monarchy to constitutional monarchy.

King Jigme's upcoming wedding will help boost the image of Bhutan in the global community as the event is expected to be celebrated in pomp and grandeur like other royal weddings. The King is one of the youngest crown heads in the world and said to be the most famous royal in Asia because of his good looks and charming smile.

The Smart Quiz

This is a unique quiz book for all ages!

What makes this book different from other available quiz books in the market is the platform itself.

When I started writing the format of this book some years back (two years exactly), I was thinking of making it more like a reference book. So I carefully selected each category based on its relevance and usefulness to proper learning. I always thought that people would be more satisfied if they will be presented a clear answer key.

The answer to each question is accompanied with detailed explanation and vivid description which, hopefully, can provide additional knowledge/learning  to the readers. I was attempting an ambitious purpose of treating this quiz book more like a reference material  so I made sure the presentation of the answers will be explained in details.

This book is divided into nine interesting categories:

Beauty and Fashion
Twenty questions about some fashion icons, controversies on beauty pageants, celebrities and
glamorous personalities. You will know here who was the fashion icon dubbed by Coco Chanel as "the master
of  us all" and the Miss Universe winner dismissively called by Donald Trump (American billionaire and owner of Miss Universe organization since 1996) as an "eating machine"

Famous Wars
Here, the questions vary from the Hundred Years of War, War of the Roses, World War I and II and
the Thirty Years war. When was the famous defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte occurred? The
war which made Florence Nightingale an international icon and the last soldier to be killed during
World War I just one minute before the ceasefire was announced and why he was killed.
European Queen Consorts
Instead of preparing the questions in a traditional ask-it format, I prepared each question
in a first-person form so that the readers could feel like they are directly talking to the Queen Consort.
For example "I am the eldest daughter of a Greek monarch, I married a Spanish Prince who was
not born to be a King, but when the monarchy restored, his father unexpectedly gave way in
favour of him making me a Queen Consort in 1975, who am I?"

General Information
This category features different topics from disease, food, US Presidents, politicians, world billionaires
and many more. Here, you will know the reason why US potential presidentiable, Edward Kennedy,
youngest brother of President John F. Kennedy, was embroiled in a scandal that ruined his reputation.
And the French specialty "Beurre Blanc".

Geography and Landmarks
This is one of the most exciting sections of this book because I prepared the questions in a tour-guide
format, as if you are taking or participating in an actual world tour, like this one "We then take a scenic drive to a  German speaking town of Switzerland, here we have a chance to visit the Lion Monument and Chapel Bridge along its beautiful lake, then shop for watches and chocolates before taking a cable car to go to Mount Pilatus for a spectacular Alpine view. Which Swiss city is this?

Famous poets, classic books, movie quotes and personal stories of famous writers are included here.
You will find here the book of Jane Austen which seemed like a duplicate of her real life. And the story
of Dracula, was he real or simply a fiction?

Important informations on monarchy around the world plus a controversy on Cleopatra's marriages. The
King who united Spain, and the only monarch in the world which also served as his country's Prime

Trivia on some important chapters in the Holy Bible, the Catholic faith and other Christian
denominations, Hinduism and Islam and the full official titles of the Roman Pontiff.

Science and Technology
This section talks about the private lives of some famous scientists, discoveries and inventions and the
controversial excommunication and house arrest of Galileo Galili. The former job of Albert Einstein and
why Michael Faraday was not knighted by a British monarch.

You will discover more unique trivia inside the book. You can now place your order HERE

Who are they?

Last year, people across the globe were shocked when the richest person in the world for 13 consecutive years, Bill Gates (co-founder of Microsoft), strode to number two in Forbes magazine's listing of world billionaires and his best friend and another billionaire, Warren Buffet (The richest person in the world in 2008) slid to number three. Why it happened? Well, because of their generosity...

These two billionaires became so generous that they gave away billions of dollars to various charities. Now, they earned the fantastic description of being the world's two most generous people --- which is more admiring than being the world's richest people.
Microsoft's Bill Gates, already donated $24 billion to his own foundation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and to Giving Pledge, a foundation he established with Warren Buffet. He is the second richest person in the world with a personal fortune of $56 billion.

The two most generous people in the planet already donated a combined $36.3 billion ($28 billion by Gates, $8.3 billion by Buffet) to Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (though Buffet has his own foundation, the Susan Buffet Foundation--named after his first wife, Susan Buffet--he is a regular patron of his best friend's foundation, BAMGF). If there are two people who did nothing but give away their billions for the sake of humanity, they are Gates and Buffets. Last year, as if the enormous amount they donated to the foundation was not enough, the two established another foundation called "Giving Pledge" to convince wealthy Americans to give away or put considerable portion of their wealth to charities, more than 60 American billionaires signed up as a result including Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg (currently the 52nd richest man in the world) and George Kaiser.
Berkshire Hathaway's big boss and the world's third richest person, Warren Buffet, the legendary American investor (often dubbed as one of the world's most brilliant investors) declared that he would not leave all his wealth to his children but give 85% of it in the form of donation to various charities. He already donated $8.3 billion of his wealth to charities.

Bill Gates, determined to devote his time to the foundation, gave up his position as CEO and chief software architect of Microsoft last year and relegated these positions to his top executives, but he remained the company's Chairman of the board. Despite his immense wealth, Warren Buffet, known with his frugality,  continues to live in a modest house in Omaha, Nebraska he bought in the 1950s (valued today at $1.2 million only) with no computer in his working desk. Just like Bill Gates, Buffet declared he would never leave all his wealth to his children but give away 85% of it in the form of donation to various charities. Buffet remains the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, Fortune magazines's third most admired company in the world and one of the world's largest investment companies. He is the third richest man in the world as of 2011 with an estimated net worth of $50 billion. He is, apart from the U.S Presidents and world's scientists, the only person with many books written under his name, a total of 47 (check my featured books from Amazon about him). Writers are amazed with his intelligent investing style and strategies that they rake up deeper down to his business portfolio and techniques.
George Soros, Founder and Chairman of Soros Fund Management which provides financial services and investment strategies to hedge funds and other companies. He is currently the 46th richest man in the world with an estimated fortune of $14.5 billion
The 268th richest person in the world and Intel co-founder, Gordon Moore, already donated $6.8 billion to his foundation, Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. He is the author of Moore's Law (describes a long-term trend in the history of Computer Hardware and the number of transistors that can be placed on an integrated circuit). Among the world's most generous people, it is Moore who is the most amazing because despite having only $4.0 billion fortune, he had give away more than what he had earned in a year, I think that's what humility and generosity is all about.
The world's richest man, Carlos Slim Helu of Mexico, who, despite his enormous wealth ($74 billion), had only a total donation of $4 billion
George Kaiser, the 89th richest man in the world with an estimated net worth asset of $9.8 billion, already donated $4 billion to various charities. He chairs BOK Financial Corporation, a U.S based financial services company. He obtained his MBA at Harvard Business School.

Buffet is closely followed by 80-year-old George Soros, a Hungarian-American businessman and Philanthropist which has a total donation of $8.0 billion and Intel co-founder, Gordon Moore with $6.8 billion. The most surprising is Carlos Slim Helu's total donation ($4 billion) despite being the world's richest person with $74 billion estimated net worth assets, he donated this amount to his own foundation, the Carlos Slim Helu Foundation focusing on digital education and health. He boldly declared that he felt he could save the world by creating more jobs than giving donations to charities. He tied in number 5 with American billionaire, George Kaiser, with a$4.0 billion total donation, but what made Kaiser different to Slim Helu is that the former has only $9.8 billion estimated fortune.

The Smart Quiz

My quiz book is now available for purchase at I-proclaim online bookstore. You can find the link at the bottom of this post. Thank you!

After intense contemplation where to submit my book for publication, I had decided to take the most convenient option of publishing it under Dorrance's subsidiary publication---I-proclaim press--with lesser financial obligation from me. This was my last option to see my book published and be available to international readers.

Because I am targeting an international audience for this book I made an ambitious effort to send my query to international publishing, to my chagrin, some of these companies responded with horrifying subsidy fee agreement!waaaaah...and since I am only living in a paltry salary, the sky rocketing shared cost (to cover final editing, illustrations and promotions) was simply unthinkable at the moment. But there's one publishing company that really gave me several options to decide, apart from the email they sent, they  also sent me via airmail to review and consider some convenient options.

Dorrance Publishing is a reputable book publishing from Pennsylvania, USA and has been making business in publication (with several best-sellers) for a century now, their credibility, reputation and very professional approach made me to ponder hard on the options presented. But two of their subsidiaries still need huge amount to cover the deal...so I closed my eyes and select the third one, which never guarantee of anything, not even ISBN, except occasional profits, but I don't mind so as long as I got my wish to reach the international readers.

My book will be available at I-proclaim online book store and customers can place their order from this site (link at the bottom) either a traditional book (print) or e-book. You may order directly from me at a discounted price of $15.00.

I-proclaim, a Dorrance Publishing subsidiary, is the most convenient option for authors (who have no budget for higher subsidy fees) who want to penetrate the international market or to establish a name in the writing field (for future writing career), it never guarantees a huge income (authors have an option to pull out the book from the I-proclaim book store circulation and move it to Dorrance publishing to be more profitable and to be transported to different book stores worldwide) as the author will only get an income through a commission per book if there are orders. But it is not an issue to me what I needed is just for my book to be available to international readers and gained from it (small amount is just enough because my purpose is just to build a name and reputation in the international market for my future writing works), the site sent me several techniques how to sell the book internationally and locally. I also plan to buy copies (traditional book version at author's price) soon, about four, to sell it locally.

So what will you get from buying my book?

This is a smart quiz book with a unique platform, more like a reference book, unlike other quiz books available in the market today, this one is hugely different because categories are chosen based on its relevance and value to learning and, well, curiosity and the answer key is uniquely prepared in detailed explanation and vivid description. More than fun and entertainment, this book will provide significant information/additional knowledge to readers on various topics. The subjects here are well researched. I kept revising this book for the past two years while excruciatingly conducted a thorough research on each topic and answer.

Question: If you have brand items like Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet, what luxury product are you collecting?

A. Bag
B. Watch
C. Shoes
D. Car

Answer: B. WatchVacheron Constantin, Patek Phillipe and Audemars Piguet are all Swiss luxury watches and often considered as the top three Luxury Swiss watchmakers in the world.

Vacheron Constantin, originally established in 1735 by Jean-Marc Vacheron, is the very first watch company in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1819 watchmaker Vacheron partnered with French salesman, Francois Constantin. Vacheron Constantin’s Kallista watch is considered as the most expensive watch of all time with over 130 carats of certified emerald cut diamonds, it has a warranty of two years and valued almost US$10 million dollar today in auction. Famous people who wore Vacheron Constantin were Napoleon Bonaparte, Pope Pius XI, Edward VIII of England and US President Harry Truman. Today, this brand is part of the Richemont Group, a Swiss luxury fashion goods founded by African billionaire, Anton Rupert, in 1988.

Patek Phillipe is founded by Polish immigrant, Antoni Norbert Patek, and French watchmaker, Adrien Phillipe. In 1839, Patek started making pocket watches but it was not until 1845 that Phillipe joined him; they founded their company, Patek Phillipe & Company, in 1851. In 1933, Patek Philippe made history when they produced an ultra complicated pocket watch with 24-functions for Henry Graves, a wealthy American banker and avid watch collector. This watch was auctioned at Sotheby’s in December 1999 with a whooping US$11 million. In April 2008, Patek Philippe made another ground-breaking history when their “tour billon” wristwatch sold at Sotheby’s in Hongkong for US$1.49 million, making it the second most expensive modern watch after Vacheron Constantin’s Kallista. Famous wearers of Patek Philippe were Queen Victoria of England and her husband Prince Albert, King Christian IX of Denmark and his wife, Queen Louisse, King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy and Pope Pius IX. PP & Co. is now operated by Philippe Stern and his son.

Audemars Piguet is another Swiss luxury watch said to be the direct competitor of Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe. This brand was founded by Jules Audemar, a dial maker, and Edouard Piget in 1875 at Vallee du Jura, Switzerland. During the late 19th century, the company produced more than 1,000 time pieces including the very complex watches that attracted customers like Tiffany and Company, Cartier and Bulgari. Audemars Piguet launches the smallest minute repeater in the world, a complication in a clock that made to chime the hour when the button presses. Later on, the company produced the thinnest pocket watch in the world and the first skeleton watch. Though experienced a decline of sales in the 1920’s, Audemars Piguet made a remarkable come back during World War II through the production of their signature model-an ultra thin chronograph- a timepiece which features a timekeeping and a stop watch functions. This company is the manufacturer of the first luxury watch made from stainless steel called “Royal Oak watch”.

Question: The controversial Schlieffen Plan was a German military strategy conceived in 1905 by Germany’s General staff, Count Alfred von Schlieffen, to allow the country to fight in a two-front war with an assurance of victory. It was implemented into action at the start of World War I by which famous German commander?

A. General Alexander von Kluck
B. General Karl von Bulow
C. General Helmuth von Moltke
D. General Otto von Bismarck

Answer: C. General Helmuth von Moltke – He was born Helmuth Johann Ludwig von Moltke on May 25, 1848. He was also known as Moltke the younger to identify himself from his uncle, German General Chief of Staff, Count Helmuth Karl Bernhard Graf von Moltke, whom he replaced after its retirement in 1914. Schlieffen Plan was conceived in 1905, after the German Emperor, William II, was informed in 1904 that England and France signed a secret agreement called Entente Cordiale, expressing support to each other incase of European war. The Emperor is very much aware that France would support Russia as Germany has still an unresolved issue with France.
Sketching a worst scenario in emperor’s mind, his beloved country would possibly face a two-front war with the three great powers should the existing political tension in Western Europe will drag them into conflict. The emperor, who was a first cousin to England’s King, George V and Russia’s Empress Consort, Alexandra, asked his Field Marshal, Count Alfred von Schlieffen, to devise a strategic plan to allow Germany to fight in a two- front war with an assurance of victory. The plan was carried out by Moltke the younger, and took its effect at the start of the war, giving decisive victories to Central powers during the bloodiest encounters at the Battles of Verdun and Somme in France.

But Moltke modified some of the original contents of the plan and ignored the important reminder of Count Schlieffen to “keep the right flank strong”, eventually Moltke lost contact to his field commanders during the crucial encounter of the allies and the central powers at the Battle of Marne near Paris, France where the German armed forces committed its biggest tactical error. After hearing that the German army would be totally destroyed had the field commanders did not order them to retreat to Aisne river to re-group, General Moltke suffered a nervous breakdown, his emotional message to Emperor William II was “Your Majesty, we have lost the war”, he then retired and never heard again until the war ended on November 11, 1918.
